About Our Camp

July 26-August 6, 2021 (Monday-Friday) from 7:30am-5:30pm at Paragon Collegiate Academy

The Summer Arts Academy is a performing arts day camp open to students ages 7-14 that operates from 8:00am-5:00pm, with a grace period for drop off (7:30am-8:00am) and a grace period for pick up (5:00pm-5:30pm). In total, our camp is open from 7:30am-5:30pm. You may be asking: with so many camps ending in the afternoon, why do we stay open so late? The answer is simple. We value parent convenience, and it's important to us to be able to serve working households. 

That may seem like a long day, but each and every minute is jam-packed with classes, activities, and extracurriculars for students to experience while at camp. Here's how it works. Students take three classes in all three areas of the performing arts: music, dance, and theatre. These classes are based on the block scheduling model, which allows students to take longer classes with more time to engage with material.

However, these classes do not FEEL long to the students, thanks to our inclusion of 15 minute breaks woven through the camp day! And because it's performing arts, students are never glued to their seats. Each class is filled with hands-on learning opportunities in the performing arts, taught by passionate teachers from the Rise Up camp staff. Each teacher has extensive experience in their field, and each one shares a commitment to student growth and development. 

Kids who love music, theatre, and/or dance will love our camp. In music class, students learn how to sing and play classic and well-known kid-friendly songs. In dance class, students learn about different dance genres by learning combinations to classic hip-hop and pop music. In theatre, students get to participate in mini-plays and skits, mostly drawn from comedies. Any child who wants to be a star (or a child who is interested in trying something new) will LOVE our camp. Our caring teachers create a safe and supportive learning environment, and all classes are designed to perfectly suit the needs of each age group. 

On top of classes, students participate in fun games and activities while at camp. This allows them the opportunity to take mental breaks from classes and engage with their peers. Each camp day has time devoted to a Camp Enrichment Activity, which typically is not related to the performing arts. This can range from decorating camp postcards to making s'mores! 

Our two week camp model allows students to maximize their experience with us. All classes will center around a Performance Project, which students will perform at a culminating showcase for friends and family on the last day of camp! This is a fun way for students to celebrate their accomplishments, and it's one of our favorite parts of the camp experience. 

Our camp offers FREE breakfast and lunch meals to each and every one of our camp students, thanks to our partnership with MJUSD Summer Meal Program. 

Our camp this year will be held at the Paragon Collegiate Academy satellite campus: 1608 Sampson Street in Marysville. We think this is a PRIME location, and are excited to be working with Paragon this year. This is a safe and secure campus that is perfect for our day camp. 

Is all of this sounding good so far! Hold's about to get better! Our registration fee is based on a sliding scale formula, based on family income. This successful model was used in our original camp, and allowed families from all over the Yuba-Sutter area to participate, regardless of financial status. Additionally, we offer competitive sibling discounts to help families with multiple students afford enrollment.
